Answer:

X = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

-x - 8 + 14x = -34

-x + 14x = -34 + 8

-x + 14x = -26

13x = -26

x = -26/13

x = -2

-(-2) - 8 + 14(-2) = -34

2 - 8 - 28 = -34

-34 = -34

14x -x -8 = -34
13x -8 =-34
13x =-34+ 8
13x= -26
x= -2

Hope it helps!

4.1.4 Solved Problems:

Continuous Random Variables

Problem

Let X be a random variable with PDF given by

fX(x)={cx20|x|≤1otherwise

Find the constant c.

Find EX and Var(X).

Find P(X≥12).

Solution

Problem

Let X be a continuous random variable with PDF given by

fX(x)=12e−|x|,for all x∈R.

If Y=X2, find the CDF of Y.

Solution

First, we note that RY=[0,∞). For y∈[0,∞), we have

FY(y) =P(Y≤y)

=P(X2≤y)

=P(−y√≤X≤y√)

=∫y√−y√12e−|x|dx

=∫y√0e−xdx

=1−e−y√.

Thus,

FY(y)={1−e−y√0y≥0otherwise

Problem

Let X be a continuous random variable with PDF

fX(x)={4x300<x≤1otherwise

Find P(X≤23|X>13).

Solution

Problem

Let X be a continuous random variable with PDF

fX(x)={x2(2x+32)00<x≤1otherwise

If Y=2X+3, find Var(Y).

Solution

Problem

Let X be a positive continuous random variable. Prove that EX=∫∞0P(X≥x)dx.

Solution

Problem

Let X∼Uniform(−π2,π) and Y=sin(X). Find fY(y).

one number is three more than a second number. three times the first number is less than four times the second number. find the
frosja888 [35]
The first number: 3 + x
The second number: x

3 * (3 + x) < 4 * x
If you would like to find the two numbers, you can calculate this using the following steps:
3 * 3 + 3 * x < 4 * x
9 < 4 * x - 3 * x
9 < x
x > 9

Result: The first number is greater than 12 and the second number is greater than 9.

An airplane has a total of 414 packets of crackers, pretzels, and peanuts available for passengers.
zhenek [66]
There is no question in Part A, but i do what i can.

Part A.
We know that:

n - number of <span>packets of crackers
p -</span> <span>number of packets of pretzels

p = 2n+9

s - </span><span>number of packets of peanuts

s = 3p = 3(2n+9) = 6n+27

So:

n+p+s=414\\\\n+(2n+9)+(6n+27)=414\\\\9n+36=414\quad|-36\\\\9n=378\quad|:9\\\\\boxed{n=42}\\\\\\&#10;p=2n+9=2\cdot42+9=\boxed{93}\\\\s=6n+27=6\cdot42+27=\boxed{279}

There are 42 </span><span>packets of crackers, 93 </span><span>packets of pretzels and 279 packets of peanuts.

Part B.

x - number of rows with exactly 2 </span><span>passengers
y </span>- number of rows with exactly 3 <span>passengers

and:

\boxed{\begin{cases}x+y=48\\2x+3y=132\end{cases}}\\\\\\&#10;\begin{cases}x+y=48\quad|\cdot2\\2x+3y=132\end{cases}\\\\\\&#10;\begin{cases}2x+2y=96\\2x+3y=132\end{cases}\\\\--------(-)\\\\2x-2x+2y-3y=96-132\\\\-y=-36\\\\\boxed{y=36}\\\\\\x+y=48\\\\x+36=48\\\\x=48-36\\\\\boxed{x=12}

There are </span><span>12 rows with exactly 2 passengers and 36 rows with exactly 3 passengers.</span>

Need help quick please!!!<br> Could you please explain the answers to both questions? Thanks!
marissa [1.9K]
For the triangle picture:

2/6 = 5/x

2x = 30

x = 15

For the other picture:

3.2/2 = a/8

The third option applies.

Other option does not apply.
Because for Option 4,
It should be 2/3.2 = b/6.4

For option 3,
it should be b/6.4 = 5/8
