Given:
Ten people:
5 people are 30 years old
3 people are 32 years old
1 person is 31 years old
1 person is 65 years old ⇒Outlier. No included in the next computation.

A.) Mean Age of the remaining 9 people.

Mean = (5(30) + 3(32) + 31) / 9
          = (150 + 96 + 31)/9
          = 277/9
          = 30.77 or 30.80 is the mean age to the nearest tenth.

We need to get the variance before we can solve the standard deviation.

Variance:
1 ⇒ 30 - 30.80 = -0.80 ⇒ -0.80² = 0.64
2 ⇒ 30 - 30.80 = -0.80 ⇒ -0.80² = 0.64
3 ⇒ 30 - 30.80 = -0.80 ⇒ -0.80² = 0.64
4 ⇒ 30 - 30.80 = -0.80 ⇒ -0.80² = 0.64
5 ⇒ 30 - 30.80 = -0.80 ⇒ -0.80² = 0.64
6 ⇒ 31 - 30.80 =  0.20 ⇒  0.20² = 0.04
7 ⇒ 32 - 30.80 =  1.20 ⇒  1.20² = 1.44
8 ⇒ 32 - 30.80 =  1.20 ⇒  1.20² = 1.44
9 ⇒ 32 - 30.80 =  1.20 ⇒  1.20² =<u> 1.44</u>
                                   sum:           7.56
                           divide by:        <u>        9</u>
                            quotient:           0.84 Variance

Standard Deviation is the square root of the Variance.

Standard Deviation = √0.84  = 0.92

WILL GIVE EXTRA POINTS<br>assignment name: transformations
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

K(1,0), L(2, 3), M(-1, 4), N(-2,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Because the points are being flipped over the x-axis the y values remain the same, but the x values are multiplied by -1. Multiplying the values by -1 will switch a negative value positive and a positive value negative. This will correctly flip the points to the opposite side of the graph.

Plot the axis of symmetry and the vertex for this function: h(x) = (x − 5)2 − 7.
jeka94

Answer:

The vertex and the axis of symmetry in the attached figure

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The equation of a vertical parabola written in vertex form is equal to

f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k

where

a is the leading coefficient

(h,k) is the vertex of the parabola

and the equation of the axis of symmetry is equal to the x-coordinate of the vertex

x=h

In this problem

we have

h(x)=(x-5)^2-7

This is a vertical parabola written in vertex form open upward

The vertex is a minimum

where

the vertex is the point (5,-7)

the x-coordinate of the vertex is 5

so

the equation of the axis of symmetry is equal to

x=5

The center of an ice rink is located at (0, 0) on a coordinate system measured in meters. Susan is skating along a path that can
Marianna [84]

Answer:

Option C:The skaters path intersect twice, but only one of those points is inside the rink.

Step-by-step explanation:

Coordinates of center of ice rink: (0,0) Radius of ice rink circle = 35 m

We know that the equation of a circle with center coordinates (a,b) and radius of (r) is given as; (x - a)² + (y - b)² = r²

Thus, the total area on which the skaters are skating will be given by the equation;

x² + y² = 35²

Now, we are told the path along which Susan is skating is modeled by the equation: y = 6x - x² - 5

While Luke starts at (10, –21) and skates along a path that can be modeled by a quadratic function with a vertex at (8, –9)

From equation of a parabola, the path along which like is skating can be modeled by;

(x - 8)² = 4a(y + 9)

To find a, we will substitute the coordinate started at to get;

(10 - 8)² = 4a(-21 + 9)

4 = 4a × -12

Divide both sides by 4 to get;

a = -1/12

Thus;

(x - 8)² = 4(-1/12)(y + 9)

(x - 8)² = (-1/3)(y + 9)

This gives: 3(x - 8)² = -(y + 9)

I've drawn the graph on demos and attached it.

From the graph we can see that the skaters points intersect twice but one is inside the rink circle while the other is outside the rink circle. The point at which they intersect outside the rink was slightly cropped out because of size. But it is clearly seen that they are both approaching point of intersection.

Thus, correct answer is Option C.
