Scientists believe the moon was formed

Answer:

The answer would be A) From the collision of protoplanet and proto-earth

Explanation:

The theory is that the Moon was formed when a Mars-sized object slammed into the Earth, billions of years ago. This collision turned the newly formed Earth into a molten ball of rock again, and ejected material into orbit. Most of the material crashed back into the Earth, but some collected together from mutual gravity to form the Moon. The planet never survived the collision, but we believe that large parts of that planet now form part of our Earth and of the Moon as well.

Answer:

a)From the collision of protoplanet and proto-earth

The isotopic homogeneity of this highly refractory element suggests that lunar material was derived from the proto-Earth mantle, an origin that could be explained by efficient impact ejection, by an exchange of material between the Earth’s magma ocean and the proto-lunar disk, or by fission from a rapidly rotating post-impact Earth.

However, it remains uncertain whether more refractory elements, such as titanium, show the same degree of isotope homogeneity as oxygen in the Earth–Moon system.

Scientists still believe the general idea of having an impact forming disk that coalesced into the Moon is probably right, but this paper shows that scientists still don’t fully understand exactly what the mechanisms were. There is a lot of exciting research still to be done in this field!

Which group below are all strategies male birds employ to avoid sperm competition?
ehidna [41]
Male adaptations to sperm competition include relatively large testes, large sperm stores and long spermatozoa, mate guarding and frequent pair copulations. Females show no obvious morphological adaptations to sperm competition but, by controlling whether copulations are successful, they probably determine its frequency and extent. Despite this, the evolutionary benefits females acquire from extra-pair fertilizations are poorly understood.

DNA is replicated in the nucleus of eukaryotes, but in the cytoplasm of prokaryotes. Why is this?
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

In prokaryotes (organisms without a nuclear membrane), DNA undergoes replication and transcription and RNA undergoes translation in an undivided compartment. All three processes can occur simultaneously.

In eukaryotes (organisms with a nuclear membrane), DNA undergoes replication and transcription in the nucleus, and proteins are made in the cytoplasm. RNA must therefore travel across the nuclear membrane before it undergoes translation. This means that transcription and translation are physically separated. The primary transcript, heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA), undergoes extensive post-transcriptional processing to make a messenger RNA (mRNA)molecule that can pass through the nuclear membrane.

How do DNA mutations change proteins?
Aleksandr [31]
A missense mutation is a mistake in the DNA which results in the wrong amino acid being incorporated into a protein because of change, that single DNA sequence change, results in a different amino acid codon which the ribosome recognizes.
