Solve equation X/4-7=-3

This could mean two things from how you’ve written it.

It could mean there is an X with the denominator 4 or it could mean there’s an X with the denominator 4-7.

I am going to work with the first one and assume the 7 is separate. Apologies if that is incorrect.

First, I would add the 7 to both sides.

This leaves you with X/4 = 4

Then, multiply both sides by 4, to get X on its own.

This leaves X=16, which is the answer.

65% of the 800 students at North High School ride the
jonny [76]

Answer:

520 out of 800 students ride the bus

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Proportion = 65\%

Students = 800

Required

Determine the number of students that\ ride\ the\ bus

To do this, we simply multiply the proportion by the total number of students.

i.e.

Bus = Proportion * Students

Bus = 65\% * 800

Express the percentage as decimal

Bus = 0.65* 800

Bus = 520

Suppose a bag contains many marbles, 54% of which are purple. You draw 5 marbles from the bag with replacement.
dolphi86 [110]

Part A

Use the binomial probability distribution formula.

p = 0.54 = probability of getting a purple marble

n = 5 = sample size

x = 2 = number of purple we want to get

P(x) = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}*p^x*(1-p)^{n-x}\\\\P(2) = \frac{5!}{2!(5-2)!}*0.54^2*(1-0.54)^{5-2}\\\\P(2) = 10*0.54^2*0.46^3\\\\P(2) = 0.283831776\\\\

The \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!} portion is from the nCr combination formula. The exclamation marks indicate a factorial.

Alternatively, you could use Pascal's Triangle for that portion.

<h3>Answer: 0.283831776</h3>

This decimal value is exact. Round it however you need to.

============================================================

Part B

To find the expected value, aka the mean, we multiply the sample size and probability of getting a purple marble on any single selection.

n*p = 5*0.54 = 2.7

<h3>Answer: 2.7</h3>

Pythagorean theorem to determine if a triangle with sides 2 ft,5ft,4ft is a right triangle
Delvig [45]
a^2 + b^2 = c^2

2^2 + 4^2 = 5^2

4 + 16 = 25

20 = 25

Since 20 = 25 is clearly a false statement, the three side lengths 2 ft, 4 ft, and 5 ft do not form a right triangle.

Answer:

fraction 1 and 3 over 5

Step-by-step explanation:

2:3 is equal to 8 blocks

5:12 is equal to 5 blocks

if you divide them, the result is:

8/5 which is the same as 1 3/5

because 5 is contained 1 time in 8 and the rest is 3
