Melody stated that the sum of a positive and a negative integer equals a negative integer or 0.

(a) I'd say sometimes true. 3 + -7= -4 , -5 + 3= -2 , 8+-5=3, 7+-7=0

(b) I'm not too sure about this one but I what i know is that if the positive number is higher than the negative number it will be a positive. If you are adding both a negative number and a positive number that is the same value it will be 0. And if you are adding a negative that is higher than the positive it will be a negative number.

I hope this helped a bit.. (:

The sum of a number and 8 is 15
kodGreya [7K]
You mean, what is this number?

we can rephrase it like this: the sum of a number x and 8 is 15

which is:

x+8=15

we subtract 8 from both sides and we get
x=7

so the answer is 7.

Red roses come 3 to a package, and white roses come 5 to a package. If an equal number of red and white roses are wanted to make
Katen [24]

Answer:

B :- 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A package of red rose contains = 3 pieces

A package of white rose contains = 5 pieces

If an equal number of red and white roses are wanted to make bouquets, what is the minimum number of each that can be purchased ?

Solution:

As here given that there are two types of package of roses, red roses come 3 pieces to each packet and white roses come 5 pieces to each packet and we have to find equal minimum number of red roses as well as white roses to be purchased, we will simply find the Lowest common multiple of 3 and 5.

Multiples of 3 :- 3, 6, 9,12, 15, 18, 21, 24

Multiples of 5 :- 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

Lowest common multiple is 15, that means 15 is the minimum number of pieces of each that can be purchased to make bouquets.

And number of packets of red rose have to purchase = 3 \times 5 = 15, 5 packages.

And number of packets of white rose have to purchase = 5 \times 3 = 15 , 3 packages.
