Hello, Myllhya. Whenever using unit rate, you set up a proportion: \frac{y(dependent)}{x(independent)}. Imagine the line in between x and y is the word 'per'. Finding how many feet in a given number of inches is the same as saying 'how many feet per inch', so this will be written as \frac{feet}{inches} because feet becomes dependent on inches. Or, vice versa, the problem asks for inches for a certain amount of feet, you apply the same concept. The number of inches depends on feet, so you proportion is \frac{inches}{feet}.

I hope this was helpful. : )

The junior and senior classes at Central High School were asked to choose a destination for a field trip. The results are shown
Ann [662]

Solution:

We are given below frequency table:

             Amusement-Park      Museum         Broadway-Show         Total

Juniors                57                      21                      42                          120

Seniors                64                     44                      58                          166

Total                    121                     65                      100                        286

We have to find the percentage of surveyed students who chose the amusement park.

From the table, we see there are total 121 students who chose amusement park out of total 286 students.

Therefore, the percentage of surveyed students who chose the amusement park is given below:

\frac{121}{286}\times 100=42.3\%

Hence, the option A. 42.30% correct.

Use the discriminant to determine the nature of the roots of the following equation.
kvv77 [185]

Discussion

The discriminate is b^2 - 4*a*c

The general equation for a quadratic is ax^2 + bx + c

In this equation's case

a = 1

b= -5

c = - 3

Solve

(-5)^2 - 4*(1)*(-3)

25 - (-12)

25 + 12

37

Note

Since the discriminate is > 0, the roots are real and different. The roots do exist and there are 2 of them.
