I don't know how to make a 'greater than' sign.

6x is greater than x + 20
6x - x is greater than 20
5x is greater than 20
x is greater than 20 divided by 5
x is greater than 4

So, any number greater than 4 will work in this equation.

6 times a number is greater than 20 more than that number

6 times a number means 6 times x
is greater than means >
20 more than that number means 20+x

6x>20+x
minus x both sides
5x>20
divide both sides by 5
x>4

x is any number more than 4

OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

Yes

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for area of a triangle is A = (1/2)bh,

For the first triangle we can leave it in general terms, so it's area is

A = (1/2)bh, depending on what b and h are, but it doesn't matter here...

The second triangle has base that is twice the other triangles base.  Bases being multiples of each other is the definition of being proportional so the bases are proportional, an the area of the second triangle is

A = (1/2)(2b)h,   which simplifies to

  A = bh

Comparing the 2 areas, you can see that one has a multiplier of (1/2), so their areas are proportional

Please help, I'm really confused with these two questions ):
erik [133]

Step-by-step explanation:

The die is rigged, so "not 3" is not a possibility.  Ruling out those branches of the tree, there are 4 possible outcomes, one of which is the desired outcome.  So the probability is 1/4.

A fair die has six sides that are equally likely, so the probability of rolling more than 2 is always 4/6.  The outcome of the first roll does not effect the outcome of the second roll.

In such type of questions, all that you are supposed to do is, use basic mathematics to eliminate any one of the given two variables. Check out the equations if in case you can multiply any of the given ones with a -1 and add the two equations,eliminating one of the variables.
