How to round to the nearest cent

Mathematics

Since there are 100 cents in a dollar, routing to the nearest cent would be rounding to the nearest hundredth. In order to do that you would solve to the thousandths place the use that number to round up or down to the nearest hundredth.

For example:

If a dozen roses cost $12.35, how much does each rose cost?

12.35 ÷ 12 = 1.029

The 9 is in the thousandths place. If it is 5 or higher we round the hundredths place up, so our answer is each rose costs 1 dollar and 3 cents ($1.03)

find five solutions of the equation y=20x. select integers for values for x starting with -2 and ending with 2
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

-440, -4440, -44440, -444440, -4444440

Step-by-step explanation:

First, let's find values for x which start is a -2 and end with a 2.

-22

-222

-2222

-22222

-222222

Now we can find the y value by multiplying each term by 20.

-22 --> -440

-222 --> -4440

-2222 --> -44440

-22222 --> -444440

-222222 --> -4444440

A study was conducted in order to estimate μ, the mean number of weekly hours that U.S. adults use computers at home. Suppose a
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

The point estimate for \mu is 8.5 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, a large sample size can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

In this problem

We are working with a sample of 81 adults, so the point estimae of the mean  is the mean number of weekly hours that U.S. adults use computers at home.

So, the point estimate for \mu is 8.5 hours.

Two 5-year girls, Alyse and Jocelyn, have been training to run a 1-mile race. Alyse's 1 mile time A is approximately Normally di
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

1.7 × 10⁻⁴

Step-by-step explanation:

The question relates to a two sample z-test for the comparison between the means of the two samples

The null hypothesis is H₀:  μ₁ ≤ μ₂

The alternative hypothesis is Hₐ: μ₁ > μ₂

z=\dfrac{(\bar{x}_1-\bar{x}_2)-(\mu_{1}-\mu _{2} )}{\sqrt{\dfrac{\sigma_{1}^{2} }{n_{1}}-\dfrac{\sigma _{2}^{2}}{n_{2}}}}

Where;

\bar {x}_1 = 13.5

\bar {x}_2 = 12

σ₁ = 2.5

σ₂ = 1.5

We set our α level at 0.05

Therefore, our critical z = ± 1.96

For n₁ = n₂ = 23, we have;

z=\dfrac{(13.5-12)-(0)}{\sqrt{\dfrac{2.5^{2} }{23}-\dfrac{1.5^{2}}{23}}} = 3.5969

We reject the null hypothesis at α = 0.05, as our z-value, 3.5969 is larger than the critical z, 1.96 or mathematically, since 3.5969 > 1.96

Therefore, there is enough statistical evidence to suggest that Alyse time is larger than Jocelyn in a 1 mile race on a randomly select day and the probability that Alyse has a larger time than Jocelyn is 0.99983

Therefore;

The probability that Alyse has a smaller time than Jocelyn is 1 - 0.99983 = 0.00017 = 1.7 × 10⁻⁴.

Graph y &gt; 1 -3x<br> A<br> B<br> C<br> Or D
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

D (You got it right.)

Step-by-step explanation:

Whenever the sign is facing them we will always shade the top. Then we have to find the slope which in this case would be 3(the number that is being multiplied by x. Lastly is the sign does not have a line under it or an equal sign. it won't be a straight line it will have little gaps.
