Answer: The area is 268 cm squared (approximately)

Step-by-step explanation: The area of a parallelogram is given as ;

Area = b x h

Where b is the base and h is the vertical height. However the vertical height is not given, so we shall apply the trigonometric ratio to determine the vertical height. If we draw a straight line from the the top right vertex down to the base, we would have constructed a right angled triangle with hypotenuse 13cm, and reference angle 79 degrees. We can now calculate the vertical height as follows;

Sin 79 = opposite/hypotenuse

Sin 79 = h/13

By cross multiplication we now have

Sin 79 x 13 = h

0.9816 x 13 = h

12.76 = h

With the vertical height now known, we can calculate the area as follows

Area = b x h

Area = 21 x 12.76

Area = 267.96 cm squared

3 On a coordinate grid, the location of a lighthouse is at L, and the location of a buoy is at B. At noon, a ship is at the midp
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

(\frac{1}{2}, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the midpoint formula, M(\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1 + y_2}{2}), we can find the coordinates that represents the position of the ship at noon.

Let L(-4, 7) = (x_1, y_1) (given on the coordinate plane)

B(5, -3) = (x_2, y_2) (given also)

Plug in the values into the formula and solve as follows:

M(\frac{-4 + 5}{2}, \frac{7 +(-3)}{2})

M(\frac{1}{2}, \frac{7 - 3}{2})

M(\frac{1}{2}, \frac{4}{2})

M(\frac{1}{2}, 2)

Position of the ship at noon is best represented at (\frac{1}{2}, 2)

I don't really understand the question so can someone help me answer the question please?
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

1/ 3

Step-by-step explanation:

If each of the cards is turned over, the probability of picking up a card of one type P(E) becomes equal to:

=> P(E) = number of cards of the required type/ total number of cards

● Total number of spades( ♤ ) = 3

{the queen, one ace and the nine are all spades}

● Total number of cards = 6

Probability of drawing a spade= 3/ 6

= 1/ 2

● Total number of "7" = 1

● Total number of cards = 6

Probability of drawing a 7

= 1/ 6

Now, what's asked is the difference in the probabilities of drawing a spade and a seven.

= 1/ 2 - 1/ 6

= 3/ 6 - 1/ 6

= 2/ 6

= 1/ 3

Hence, 1/ 3 of a greater chance of drawing a spade over a 7.
