Answer:

Puritan(the religion) 17th Century Colony of the U.S.

Explanation:

The book, The Scarlet Letter, is set in the 17th century. We know this because historically, colonization of Massechusetts (where the story is also taking place,) started around the 1600's. We also know the time because of the religion practiced in the book- Puritainism. Puritanism is shown when they condemn Hester for adultry. They do this using a cruel punishment of public shaming and stitching a scarlet and gold letter "A" onto her clothes. This custom of shaming others for going against the bible was common in that time period, seeing as almost everyone believed in the religion (within the colonies.)

Dovator [93]

Answer:

Anglo-Saxon women had similar power, they also retain their control over their property after marriage.

Explanation:

Women in the Anglo-Saxon society and women of today have similar role. Although the men of Anglo-Saxon dominated the society, the women still retain control over their property after marriage. Women served the men and took care of the children and were mostly housewives in Anglo-Saxon society.

The Anglo-Saxon women took care of the home and were peace weavers. Women had more submissive role in Anglo-Saxon and the men were seen as the central leaders in the society. The Anglo-Saxon women also assumed the role of motivators.

Flauer [41]

Answer:

At the end of the third act, the reader already knows that the Franks will be found and taken to the concentration camp. However, the characters are hoping they won't be found.

Explanation:

The end of the third act establishes a strong suspense because it presents the moment when the Frank family came very close to being found and taken to the concentration camps. As you know, the Frank family is a Jewish family, which was hidden during the second world war, fleeing the Nazi regime.

In this act, the suspense controls the Frank family, who know they are very close to being found, but they have hope and believe they can escape this situation. However, this piece is based on a real history and the reader knows that the Franks will be found and taken to concentration camps, where most will die.
