In order to understand trans fat, you must understand the prefix. Trans and cis are prefixes that mean opposite and same side, just like transgender people identify with a gender that is not in line with their biological sex, and cisgender people identify with their biological gender. Cis fat describes the fatty acids attached to the glycerol in triglycerides. Cis fats have hydrogen attached to the carbon chain just like trans fats, but at one, two, or more places on the chain, two hydrogen atoms attached on the same side, and the fatty acid chain gets bent, making the collection of fats less dense and therefore healthier for you and I. Trans fats have hydrogen atoms on alternating sides all the way down the chain, making them denser and solid at room temperature. In order to turn a plant oil (cis fat) into trans fat, the cis fat has to be blasted with hydrogen in order to turn the fatty acid chains from cis to trans. This adds more energy to the fats while also making them denser, which turns olive oil into a butter-like substance.

Why are Sunlight and nutrient levels asexual
KatRina [158]

Answer:Sexual reproduction allows them to produce fit offspring that can survive under stressed environmental condition

Explanation:Reproducing sexually and asexually allows fungi to adjust as per the environmental condition.

When the conditions are favorable, they reproduce asexually and increase their number but when the condition are not favorable and environmental selective pressure occur then they undergo genetic variation through sexual reproduction to produce a stable and fit offspring that could survive under stressed condition with limited resources.

An allele for a particular trait that is only expressed in the presence of a second copy of the same allele is called
docker41 [41]

Answer:

The correct answer is recessive.

Explanation:

The alternate forms of similar genes are known as alleles. A version of a gene, which to get expressed in the phenotype need to be homozygous at the time of inheritance is termed as a recessive allele. This shows that for a specific trait, a recessive allele only demonstrates its expression when a similar copy of the same allele is present.

There are two forms of alleles known, these are dominant alleles and recessive alleles. The prime difference between the two is that the expression of a dominant allele is always witnessed, that is, whether it is in the heterozygous state or homozygous state. On the other hand, the expression of a recessive allele is only witnessed when it is in a homozygous state.

Geological evidence indicates that two landmasses, separated by a deep ocean channel, have been moving apart since 45 million ye
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

A) It depends on the dispersal abilities of the organism. If the organism cannot move across the open ocean, it is very likely that the groupʹs ancestors were present on the original land mass before it broke up.

Explanation:

A) It depends on the dispersal abilities of the organism. If the organism cannot move across the open ocean, it is very likely that the groupʹs ancestors were present on the original land mass before it broke up.

B) The groupʹs ancestors cannot have been present on the original land mass before it broke up.

C) The groupʹs ancestors were definitely present on the original land mass before it broke up.

D) The groupʹs ancestors must have independently colonized each of the land masses from a third location within the past 45 million years.

The two land masses are separated by deep ocean channel which are purported to have been moving apart since 45 million years ago. Hence, for the organisms to have a widespread population on both land masses, either of two things are possible:

 • The ancestors of the organisms had a wide range of dispersal mechanism to cover the two land masses as they were moving apart or
 • The ancestors were present on the original land mass before it broke up into two. When it broke up, each land mass has some parts of the ancestors.

The correct option is A.
