Discuss the social implications of diseases

Biology

The economic implications have to do with agriculture. Look what happens when there is an outbreak of mad cow or hoof and mouth disease. Thousands of farmers lose their herds and are financially devastated. This also affects the consumer because the decrease in supply will drive up the costs. But, it could also have the opposite effect. If consumers no longer feel safe, then they will stop eating the particular food and the farmers will lose money. The same is true with disease in plants. Tobacco mosaic virus can devastate crops, resulting in huge economic losses. On a grand scale, crop diseases can affect human history. Potato blight caused suffering and death in Ireland and resulted in massive migration. Many descendents from Irish folks in the U.S. wouldn't be here if it weren't for a crop disease.

An investigation was done to see if keeping the lights on for different amounts of time each day affected the number of eggs chi
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

This question is incomplete, the complete part is asking to identify the variables of the experimental statement i.e. dependent and the independent variables.

Independent variable: different amounts of time light is on

Dependent variable: Number of eggs laid by chicken

Explanation:

In a scientific experiment, variables, which are factors that can be altered, are used. These variables are independent and dependent variables.

An independent variable is that variable that is subject to manipulation or control by the experimenter in order to bring about a change in the dependent variable. For this experiment, the independent variable is the DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF TIME LIGHT IS ON.

On the other hand, a variable is said to be dependent if it is the measurable or responding variable. The response of the dependent variable is dependent on the independent variable. In this experiment, the dependent variable is the NUMBER OF EGGS LAID BY CHICKENS. The number of eggs laid (dependent variable) is dependent on the amount of time light is on (independent variable).

Serga [27]
The correct answer is the fourth option. The magnification of a specimen viewed with a compound light microscope that has an objective power of 10x and an ocular lens power of 5x is equal to 50x. Magnification is equivalent to the product of the objective power and the ocular lens. Ten times five is fifty.

From what cell organelle does the desmotubule appear to be derived?
cricket20 [7]

Answer:

The correct answer will be- endoplasmic reticulum

Explanation:

Plasmodesmata are the cytoplasmic bridges spanning in the cell walls of the plant cell which link the cytoplasm of the adjacent cells. The plasmodesmata play an important role in the plants as they allow the inter-cellular connections between the cells.

The plasmodesmata are derived from the juxtaposed endoplasmic reticulum which forms the axial or the central portion of the plasmodesmata and allows the transport of molecules between two cells.

Thus, the endoplasmic reticulum is the correct answer.
