Option C: Region 2 is the solution to the system of inequalities

Explanation:

The system of inequalities is y \leq x+5 and y \geq-x-8

Let us substitute the coordinate (0,0) in the inequality y \leq x+5 , we get,

0\leq 0+5

0\leq 5

Hence, the inequality becomes true.

So, let us shade the region that contains the point (0,0)

And hence the shaded portion comes under the region 2 and region 3.

Now, let us substitute the coordinate (0,0) in the inequality y \geq-x-8, we get,

0\geq 0-8

0\geq -8

Hence, the inequality becomes true.

So, let us shade the half that contains the point (0,0)

And hence the shaded portion comes under the region 1 and region 2.

The solution of the system of inequalities is the intersection of the regions of the two inequalities.

Hence, the two inequalities intersect at the region 2.

Therefore, Region 2 is the solution to the system of inequalities.

Thus, Option C is the correct answer.

What is the missing side length in this right triangle?
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

A. 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Ooh, look! This triangle is a Pythagorean triple! Without even needing to use a formula, I can tell that you are correct and the answer is A. 15.

It's based off of a 3-4-5 right triangle, because 9-12-15 simplifies to that if you divide every term by 3. It's basically just a bigger version of a 3-4-5 triangle! Isn't math cool:)

Explain two methods for solving an equation. Give an example.
svlad2 [7]

For solving system of equations, we can use either substitution where we plug one equation into the other, or elimination where we combine the equations.

- Using elimination, you would to eliminate one variable from both equations, so you automatically would get one equation with one variable!

- Using substitution means you are going to solve one equation for one variable and substitute with its value in the other equation in order to get also an equation with one variable.

Let's take an example ...

y+x=2            and      y-2x = 1

<span>Using <span>elimination, we need to subtract these two equation; one from the other...

y+x=2
-
y-2x=1
-----------
0+3x=1

then x=1/3

and then substitute into any equation to get y-value</span></span>
y+x=2
y+1/3 = 2        >>>>>    y=5/3

NOW...<span>Using substitution
</span>y+x=2            and      y-2x = 1 >>(y=1+2x)

Plug (y=1+2x) into y+x=2    and solve for x
y+x=2
(1+2x) + x =2
1+3x = 2
3x=1

again (and for sure) x = 1/3

plug in x=1/3 into any of the equations above to get y:
y+x=2
y+1/3=2
y=5/3

What is the range of the function y = x 2?
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

The range of the function y = x2 is all real numbers, y, such that y ≥ 0. In the case of the function y = x2, the domain consists of all real numbers, because there is no number that, when plugged in for x into x2, would create an undefined expression.
