How do the responsibilities of citizenship reflect our identity as a democratic nation?
Eddi Din [679]
As a country, America is defined by the ideas of this being a democratic nation. A democracy refers to a country in which individuals choose what happens in the government. In this case, America represents these democratic ideals because our citizens have the opportunity to pick who runs our local, state, and national government.

With this in mind, it is the responsibility of American citizens to use their power of the vote in order to put in place the individuals who they think will help the country the most. Along with voting, debating and using our first amendment right of freedom of speech to express concerns/views about the country helps to create an atmosphere where people can learn from each other.

According to Document 4, why does President Polk think the U.S. should extend its borders?
4vir4ik [10]

Polk was a massive supporter for Manifest Destiny, so an encouragement for expansion was something he definitely wanted. Not to mention the conflict over Texas with Mexico. Even more so, the conquest of California was a dream for many Americans, something that was theirs to be taken and that would lead the U.S to expand into the Pacific, and Polk was a big supporter.

Unlike much of the rest of the Western Europe in the 13th century
Sveta_85 [38]

Unlike much of the rest of the Western Europe in the 13th century Italy was divided into “city-states” where middle-class citizens got power and promoted international exchange. During the late middle Ages, Northern and Central Italy wound up unmistakably more prosperous than the south of Italy, with the city-states, for example, Venice and Genoa, among the wealthiest in Europe.

The Crusades had constructed enduring exchange connects to the Levant, and the Fourth Crusade had done a lot to devastate the Byzantine Roman Empire as a business opponent to the Venetians and Genoese. The fundamental exchange courses from the east went through the Byzantine Empire or the Arab terrains and onwards to the ports of Genoa, Pisa, and Venice.

Extravagance merchandise purchased in the Levant, for example, flavors, colors, and silks, were foreign made to Italy and after that exchanged all through Europe.
