Mathematics
1 answer:

Perimeter of triangle ABC is 6 \sqrt{5}+6 m.

Solution:

Given data:

AB = 3 \sqrt{5} m

BC = 3 \sqrt{5} m

CA = 6 m

Perimeter = Sum of all the sides

Perimeter of triangle ABC = AB + BC + CA

                                           =3 \sqrt{5}+3 \sqrt{5}+6

                                           =6 \sqrt{5}+6 m

Perimeter of triangle ABC is 6 \sqrt{5}+6 m.

A group orders 3 large veggie pizzas. Each slice represents 1/8 of the entire pizza. The group eats 3/4 of the pizza. How many s
anyanavicka [17]

The first step is to calculate the total number of pizza slices there are.

We know each slice is 1/8 of the pizza.  (think of 1/8 as 1 out of 8 pieces)
This means each pizza has 8 slices.
There are 3 pizzas so there are 8 x 3 = 24 slices total

Next we want to figure how many slices of pizza they ate which will help us figure out how many are left.

They ate 3/4 of the pizza, so in other words only 1/4 of the pizza is left.

In order to figure out how many slices are left, all we need to do is find out what 1/4 of the total number of slices are.

# of slices left = Total number of slices x 1/4 (1/4 of the pizza is left)

# of slices left = 24 x 1/4 = 24÷4 = 6

This means there are 6 slices of pizza left.

Your friend finds the area of a circle with a diameter of 9 inches. Is your friend correct? Explain

Answer:

No, they're not. To find the area of a circle you need to square the radius. They did not square the radius but instead multiplied it by 2.

A cat keeps eating to gain weight while a dog keeps doing exercise.Later, the cat's weight increases by 20% and the dog's weight
lesya [120]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We will call the dog's original weight d and the cat's c.  according to the problem 1.2c=.9d

1.2c is the cat's weight increased by 20% and .9d is the dog's weight decreased by 10%  Now we just solve this with algebra for the dog's original weight.

1.2c=.9d

(1.2/.9)c = d

(4/3)c = d

Now, this tells us that the dog's original weight was 4/3 of the cat's.or  about 33.33% larger

It kinda looks like the question is then asking what the cat's current weight is  in comparison to the dog's original.  If that's the case we need just one more step.  We want the dog's original weight and the cat's current weight in terms of the same variable.  Well, we have that.

Current cat = 1.2c or 6/5, since we have the other in fractional form.

original dog = (4/3)c

Now, what do we multiply the first to get to the second?  Well, we need common denominators.  15 is the lcm of 3 and 5, so we'll use that.

6/5 = 18/15 and 4/3 = 20/15

Nowwe want to know what we have to multiply 18 by to get to 20.  some algebra will find that.

18x=20

x = 20/18

x = 10/9

that's about 1.11, so the dog's original weight is about 11% higher than the cat's current weight.

Hopefully that's the answer it wanted, if not or if there is something you didn't understand let me know.

Line segment NY has endpoints N(-11,5) and Y(5,-7). What is the equation of the perpendicular bisector of line NY?
Fiesta28 [93]
The first thing to do is find the slope of the given line m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). We need to find the slope because it is required to find the slope of the perpendicular line.

m = (-7-5)/(5+11) = -12/16 = -3/4

Now we find the midpoint of the line, this is where the perpendicular bisector be. Using the Midpoint equation

M=((x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2)/2)
M=((-11+5)/2, (5-7)/2)
M=(-6/2, -2/2)
M=(-3,-1)

Now that we have the slope and midpoint we can find the perpendicular bisector. A line is perpendicular to another if, when you multiply their slopes together they equal -1. To do this we simply invert the numerator and denominator of our current slope and flip the sign from negative to positive.

So, -3/4 becomes positive 4/3 for our new line. So for our perpendicular line we now know two things, the slope and a point on it (the bisector point). To find the equation of the line we need to plug the known point and slope into the equation y = mx + b and solve for b.

-1 = 4/3(-3) + b
-1 = -4 + b
b = -1 + 4
b = 3

Now we can build our equation for our perpendicular line

y = 4/3x + 3
