Answer:

  C(n, 2)a^(n-2)b^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Generally, the expansion is written in decreasing powers of "a", so the first few terms would have variable constellations that look like ...

  a^n, a^(n-1)b, a^(n-2)b^2, ...

The coefficients would be (in order), C(n, k) for k increasing from 0, so the coefficient of the 3rd term would be C(n, 2).

It takes 40 minutes for 8 people to paint 4 walls. How many minutes does it take 10 people to paint 7 walls?
77julia77 [94]
Let's first break it down to the time 8 people need for one wall. That would be 10 minutes, right? If one person would have to do it in stead of 8, you'd expect him to take 80 minutes.

To paint 7 walls, he would nee 7x80 = 560 minutes. 10 people would do that 10 times faster, ie., 56 minutes.

I know puzzles like these always have a mindtrick. Did I miss anything?? ;-)

Jo's mother, Anne, is four times as old as Jo. In four years time, Anne will be three times as old as Jo. How old is Jo? (this i
pentagon [3]

Answer:

Jo's age = x = 8 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Jo's age = x

Jo's mother, Anne's age = 4x

In four years time, Anne will be three times as old as Jo.

Jo's age =3( x + 4)

Jo's mother, Anne's age = 4x + 4

How old is Jo?

Equate Jo's age and his mother's age

3(x + 4) = 4x + 4

3x + 12 = 4x + 4

3x - 4x = 4 - 12

-x = - 8

Divide both sides by -1

x = 8

Therefore,

Jo's age = x = 8 years

Can you please tell me how to solve this?
Sedaia [141]

The answer is 142°

Explanation:

angle 1 and angle 2 form are supplementary.

m∠1 + m∠2 = 180°

38° + m∠2 = 180°

m∠2 = 180° - 38°

m∠2 = 142°

Hope it helps!
