Answer:
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my opinion about the events that occurred March 5, 1770 in Boston. I feel the blame rests solely on the colonists because they were mocking the soldiers and they outnumbered the soldiers.
Firstly, The colonists, were mocking and insulting soldiers who were just trying to do their job. In the London Chronicle it explains "This party was also attacked, and insulted by the mob..." Since the mob was the colonists, this shows that they were unnecessarily barating the colonists.
In addition, The colonists outnumbered the soldiers which gave them the advantage. According to the London Chronicle "On the 5th of March, in the evening, a number of the townspeople, after insulting in the barracks, attacked a sentry upon duty at the Customhouse, and forced him from his post". This clearly shows that if the colonists were able to force the soldiers from their posts, the soldiers were outnumbered and the colonists took advantage.
So as you can see, if the colonists hadn't attacked the soldiers first no lives would have been lost.
Sincerely,
Your Name
