The correct answer is crossover because mitosis is he reproduction of daughter cells and mutations can help evolution and sexual reproduction is helpful to changing for evolution
So the answer is C. Crossover

Hope this helps

I would have to say A, mitosis.

I say this because Mitosis produces an exact replica of the cell, thus not contributing to biological evolution.

B allows a species to adapt to harmful environments.

C allows for variation within a species and D produces variations as well within offsprings.

Hope this helps!

Explain how fertilization occurs
alex41 [277]
<span>I'm assuming this in plants.

Brief-ish answer:

"Fertilization in plants occurs when pollen grains are transported from anthers to stigma. When ripe pollen from an anther catches on the stigma of the same kind of flower, each pollen grain sends out a small thread-like tube."

Here's a fuller answer:

"</span>Fertilization occurs after pollination, when pollen grains land on the stigma of a flower of the same species. During this time, a series of events take place leading to the formation of seeds. A pollen grain on the stigma develops a tiny tube that runs down the style of the ovary. The pollen tube contains a male gamete which meets the female gamete in the ovule. Fertilization occurs when the two gametes combine and their chromosomes join. The resulting product is a normal complement of chromosomes, with some from either parent flower. The fertilized ovule forms a seed, which consists of a food reservoir and an embryo that later develops into a new plant. In gymnosperms (conifers) male gametes are enclosed in pollen grains and are transmitted by wind or insects to the female reproductive organs. Fertilization in angiosperms (flowering plants) occurs when insects or other animals transport the pollen to the female reproductive organ (pistil).<span>
</span><span>Fertilization is the fusion of gametes to launch the development of a new individual organism. In animals, the process entails the combination of ovum with a sperm, leading to the development of an embryo. Fertilization in plants occurs when haploid gametes meet to create a diploid zygote, which eventually forms an embryo.</span><span>"

Irina18 [472]
The term that describes the rearranging of genetic material between non homologous chromosomes without a net loss or gain of genetic material is Translocation.
Chromosomes translocation is an abnormality that results from the rearrangement of parts between non homologous chromosomes.  A gene fusion may be created when the translocation joins two or else separated genes and is normally detected on karyotype of affected cells.

The diagram shows structures found in a seed plant. What is the function of labeled X
Alja [10]

Question is incomplete. Complete question has been attached.

Answer:

carries food produced by leaves

Explanation:

The diagram is a cross section of stem of a dicot plant, specifically <em>Hypericum perforatum</em>. It shows all the structures present in the stem like xylem, phloem, pith, cortex etc. The structure labelled X is phloem. It is present between xylem (stained red) and peripheral cortex. Phloem is responsible for conduction of sugars and nutrients in the plant thus it carries the food produced by leaves. Together xylem and phloem make the vascular tissue which surrounds the central pith (stained bluish-green).
