Let <em>x</em> be the number of pearls in Chang's collection.  Let <em>y</em> be the number of pearls in Cal's collection.<em />

Chang has 3 more than Cal, so <em>x</em> = <em>y</em> + 3.
Adding both collections would be <em /><em>x</em> + <em /><em>y.</em>  It's easier to have an expression in one variable, so we will substitute what we had written about Chang in for <em>x</em>.
(<em>y</em> + 3) + <em>y</em> = 2<em>y</em> + 3.

How am I suppose to solve this?
nika2105 [10]
Set it up as a proportion.  14.25 miles is to 90 minutes as x is to 120 minutes.

We have to solve with like units of measure, so we have to change the hours to minutes before we can set up the proportion.

60 minutes= 1 hour
120 minutes = 2 hours

x= miles in 2 hours

14.25/90 = x/120
cross multiply
(14.25 * 120)= (90 * x)
1710=90x
divide both sides by 90
19= x

You could ride 19 miles in 120 minutes, so you could ride 19 miles in 2 hours.

Hope this helps!  :)

Answer:

f_{G}=317877.55 N = 317.8 kN

Step-by-step explanation:

f_{G}= (G*m_{1}*m_{2})/r^{2}  \\Where:\\f_{G}= force  of  gravity\\G=gravitational constant= 6.6x10^{-11}m^{3}kg^{-1}s^{-2}\\ m_{1}= earth mass = 5.9x10^{24}kg\\m_{2}=person mass = 100kg\\r= distance between the bodies=350km= 350 000 m
