According to Regan, the one thing that is fundamentally wrong in the relationship of humans with the animals is that we regard animals as resources. The animals are just a means for humans to meet their ends. Animals are used by humans to serve their different purpose, whether it be scientific research, as food, or load bearers. For us, animals are just a way for us to fulfill our needs and no more, and this should be changed.

A child holds a red ball. Why does the ball look red?
Tasya [4]

Answer:

D) All visible light waves except red are absorbed by the ball

Explanation:

When we see things that are a certain color, it is because the object is absorbing all the visible light waves except the one we are seeing. In this case, the ball is absorbing every color on the visible spectrum except for red. Red is being reflected back towards the child's eye which is why the child sees the ball as red.

After examining the fossil record, scientists have determined that scorpions today are much smaller than their extinct ancestors
BabaBlast [244]

Answer: C. scorpions have changed as a result of natural selection

Explanation:

The text tells us that scorpions today are now smaller than they were in the past. This means that the scorpions have changed since then i.e. they have evolved.

The primary reason for evolution is natural selection which refers to a situation whereby only the organisms that are better adapted in their species survive.

The conclusion that can be drawn from this research therefore is that we have smaller scorpions today because they stood a better chance of survival than the larger ones and so survived whilst the larger ones died out.
