Confirm your understanding of the text by writing a summary "the neglected senses"
Marina86 [1]

The Burnell children are gifted an elaborate dollhouse by a friend of the family who once stayed with them. They immediately fall in love with the dollhouse, and Kezia especially enjoys the little lamp which sits on one of its tables. When they next go to school, the Burnell children brag left and right about the dollhouse, and they get their entire class's attention. They are allowed to bring any two classmates per day by the house to look at the dollhouse, but they cannot bring the Kelvey children, who come from a family so poor even their teacher treats them differently. Kezia disobeys this rule, and brings the Kelveys by to look at the dollhouse, but she is discovered by her aunt, and the Kelveys are quickly shooed away

How does ellis define middle-class english women, and why does she address her book specifically to them?
g100num [7]

Ellis defined middle-class English women as the “pillars of family life”.

She addressed her book specifically to middle-class English women because, according to her, it is not appropriate for them to be “exempt from the domestic duties which call forth the best energies of the female character”, despite being employed in jobs related to trade and manufacturing,

Ellis wrote beautifully about the social and familial responsibilities of women in her society. In keeping with her time, Mrs. Ellis asserted that women also needed to uphold a high moral standard and seek out noble causes to which they might devote themselves. Ellis represents Britain's rich class; the common classes would hardly recognize Ellis' beliefs and actions.
