Answer:

Explanation:

                           CH₄          +            2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂O

from equation    1 mol                      2 mol

given                   3.70 mol               5.40 mol

1 mol CH₄  needs 2 mol O₂

3.70 mol CH₄   need   x mol  O₂

x=3.70*2/1=7.40 mol O₂

So, we see that 3.70 mol CH₄ need 7.40 mol O₂, but only 5.40 mol O₂ given (it is not enough).

So, O₂ is the limiting reactant.

If 2.0 ml of 6.0m hcl is used to make a 500.0-ml aqueous solution, what is the molarity of the dilute solution?
svp [43]
Make sure that you understand what they are asking you from this question, as it can be confusing, but the solution is quite simple. They are stating that they want you to calculate the final concentration of 6.0M HCl once a dilution has been made from 2.0 mL to 500.0 mL. They have given us three values, the initial concentration, initial volume and the final volume. So, we are able to employ the following equation:

C1V1 = C2V2
(6.0M)(2.0mL) = C2(500.0mL)
Therefore, the final concentration, C2 = 0.024M.

How acidic buffer resist change in pH on addition of acid and base.
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

Buffers are solutions that resist changes in pH, upon addition of small amounts of acid or base. The can do this because they contain an acidic component, HA, to neutralize OH- ions, and a basic component, A-, to neutralize H+ ions. Since Ka is a constant, the [H+] will depend directly on the ratio of [HA]/[A-].

hope it's help
