This first part will sound more opinionated but, after taking psychology, I often remember being told very frequently to never self-diagnose and it's a very common rule among psychology students. So even though you're reading this, please understand you, nor me, can diagnose you, since we do not have a degree in psychology, psychiatry, counselling, etc. So I suggest seeing a licensed doctor to help you if you feel such way.
There are some common traits among those who are depressed:
Having a hopeless outlook on life.
Thinking negatively about your future and feeling like there's nothing you can possibly do or are capable of, so you'll be stagnant the rest of your life.
Losing interest in activities or hobbies.
You might be showing a lack of interest or enthusiasm for things you used to do, or things you feel like you would like to do in the future. You will refuse to do the things you love and isolate yourself.
An increase in fatigue and decrease in healthy sleeping habits.
You may not sleep enough, or you may sleep too much, which ruins your whole mood throughout the day naturally, as your body is deprived of a needed resource- rest and growth.
General anxiety over things.
You may feel very panicked at times that are uncalled for, not only mentally, but physical symptoms of anxiety like twitching, shaking, increased heart rate, rapid breathing, etc.
Irritability (especially in men).
You may experience a lack of patience and tolerance for everyday responsibilities or people, making you more angry and quick to anger.
Changes in your appetite or weight.
Your die may not remain the same, leading to extreme weight gain or weight loss depending on whether you eat too much or too little.
Uncontrollable emotions.
Your mood can swing rapidly from anger to sadness, or crying uncontrollably.
Suicidal thoughts may arise.
Suicidal thoughts are often connected with depression.
Most importantly,
You may definitely take all this into account, but don't ever analyze yourself and diagnose right off the bat. You need to talk to somebody as soon as possible, and it could be anyone willing to help, but if there's nobody who can, call a hotline, or go to https://www.betterhelp.com/ for private counselling.
