Science literacy is essential today because a knowledge of science will help us to accurately construct the world around us. A construction of your worldview based on the scientific method, empiricism, and previous scientific inquiries is more accurate and will lead to a greater understanding of the world around you and will prevent you from falling into traps of believing in pseudoscience. Pseudoscience is an area of thought that holds certain facts or beliefs to be scientifically accurate when in fact they are scientifically unfounded.

Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

Many plant crops need more phosphorus than is dissolved in the soil to grow optimally. In addition, crops are usually harvested and removed – leaving no decaying vegetation to replace phosphorus. Therefore, farmers replenish the phosphorus ‘pool’ by adding fertilisers or effluent to replace the phosphorus taken up by plants.
