1. Van Helmont  conducted an experiment in which he weighed a willow tree and also weight the mass of dry soil. He then planted theow will tree, kept watering it for next five years and then reweighed it at the end of five years. He observed that tree has gained weight by some 12 stones. Thus he proved that plants obtain nutrients from water rather than soil

2. Ingenhousz is acclaimed for discovering the process of photosynthesis in plants. He was  the first to observe that when plant are kept in light, oxygen gas is released while during night a different kind of gas is released (i.e Carbon Dioxide)

3. Engelmann illustrated that plants use red and blue light during photosynthesis by exposing different parts filamentous algae to different light waves of visible spectrum. He then observed that part of algae exposed to red and blue light produced more oxygen.

In which part of the circulatory system does the exchange of oxygen and dioxide take place between blood and cells?
bija089 [108]

The exchange takes place in the millions of alveoli in the lungs and the capillaries that envelop them. As shown below, inhaled oxygen moves from the alveoli to the blood in the capillaries, and carbon dioxide moves from the blood in the capillaries to the air in the alveoli.

The nitrogen cycle is most directly dependent upon-
vovangra [49]

Answer:

B) Nitrogen-fixing bacteria and lightning

Explanation:

Nitrogen cycle is the natural process in which atmospheric nitrogen is converted into nitrite and nitrate with the help of bacteria.

Nitrogen cycle is directly dependent on nitrogen-fixing bacteria and lightning.

As bacteria are responsible for most of the chemical conversion in the nitrogen cycle such as nitrogen fixation (first step) is done by soil bacteria (Cyanobacteria) that form ammonia, which is toxic to plants; nitrification in which ammonia is converted into nitrites and nitrates with the help of Nitrobacter and denitrification bacteria involve Pseudomonas, and Achromobacter which convert nitrite and nitrate into nitrogen.

The lightning breaks nitrogen molecules and allow  it to combine with oxygen in atmosphere which further dissolve in rain and form nitrates.

Hence, the nitrogen cycle is most directly dependent upon nitrogen-fixing bacteria and lightning and the correct option is B.
