ns for car rentals. Company A charges $0.25 per mile plus a $50 rental fee. Company B charges $0.45 per mile plus a $20 rental fee. What is the minimum number of miles that Joseph must drive in order for Company A to be a better buy? The company charges only for whole number mileage (not fractional increments of miles driven). Answer:

if Joseph travels minimum 151 miles , then Company A will be better buy.

Step-by-step explanation:

lets create equation for both that is company A and Company B

Lets assume number of miles be represented by x

Company A charges = (0.25 × x ) + 50 = 0.25x + 50

Company B charges = (0.45 × x ) + 20 = 0.45x + 20

lets first find out number of miles when Company A charges = Company B charges

⇒0.25x + 50 =  0.45x + 20

⇒ 50 - 20 = 0.20x

⇒x = 30÷0.20 = 150

so At x = 150 miles  , charges for both the company will be same.

Need to observe that for company A to be better buy ,it should be travelling more as its rental fee is more but charges per mile is less. and since company charges only for whole number mileage , next whole number after 150 is 151 . hence if Joseph travels minimum 151 miles , then Company A will be better buy.

we can check by keeping x = 151 in equation formed

Company A charges = (0.25 × 151 ) + 50 = 87.75

Company B charges = (0.45 × 151) + 20 = 87.95

hence for 151 miles travel  Company A is better buy than Company B

The distance between -3 and 2 is 5 because if you were to draw a number line and put -3 and 2, you have to count what’s on the inside

What does it mean if the distance between a point p and a line l is zero? What does it mean if the distance between two lines is
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

a) the point is on the line

b) the lines are the same line

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The distance from a point to a line is zero when the point satisfies the equation of the line. That is, the point is on the line.

b) Two lines are zero distance apart when they are on top of each other, indistinguishable. That is, they are the same line.

A bad contains 8 black,3red and 9 white balls. If 3 balls are drawn at random, find the probability that none is red
LenKa [72]

Argument

You have a total of 8 + 9 + 3 balls = 20

The first ball is 17/20         Probability that no ball drawn is red the first time

The Second ball is 16/19   Probability that no ball drawn is red the 2nd time

The third ball is 15/18        Probability that no ball drawn is red the 3rd time

Answer

Total Probability = 17/20 * 16/19 * 15/18 = 34/57

My calculator figures out fractions. You can do this just as easily with decimals.

0.85 * 0.8421 * 0.8333333 = 0.5964

34/57 = 0.5965  which is close enough.

If you have choices, choose the one that coincides with my answer. Otherwise use the decimal value.

15. (-k^{3} -5k^{2} + 1) - (6k^{3}-k^{2} -2)

Step 1: Distribute the subtraction sign to all the numbers in the second set of parentheses...

(-k^{3} -5k^{2} + 1) - (6k^{3}-k^{2} -2)

-k^{3} -5k^{2} +1 - 6k^{3} +k^{2} +2

Step 2: Combine like terms (k^{2}'s go with k^{2}'s)

-k^{3} -5k^{2} + 1 - 6k^{3}+k^{2} +2

-5k^{2} +k^{2}

-4k^{2}

-k^{3} -4k^{2} + 1 - 6k^{3}+2

Step 3: Combine like terms (k^{3}'s go with k^{3}'s)

-k^{3} -4k^{2} + 1 - 6k^{3}+2

-k^{3} + (- 6k^{3})

-7k^{3}

-7k^{3} -4k^{2} + 1 +2

Step 4: Combine like terms (normal numbers go with normal numbers)

-7k^{3} -4k^{2} + 1 +2

1 + 2

3

-7k^{3} -4k^{2} + 3

You were correct!
