Kitty [74]
-3x = 21
Divide -3 from both sides and you get x = -7

1/3x = 6
Divide 1/3 from both sides and you get x = 18

-1/2x = -7
Divide -1/2 from both sides and you get x = 14 (you get a positive answer from 2 negatives)

Dividing 1/3 is just multiplying by 3, and dividing -1/2 is just multiplying by -2

Can't do it if you don't provide the info found in the drop-down menus. + What you wrote in the question and what's seen in the picture isn't quite the same.

Leeza did this to solve an equation. Did she makes an error 4x=7+3(2x-5) 4x=7+6x-5
katrin [286]

Yes, there was a mistake in applying the distributive property. If you have to perform

3(2x-5)

you have to multiply both terms in the parenthesis by 3, not just the first one.

So, the correct expansion would be

3(2x-5) = 3\cdot 2x - 3 \cdot (-5) = 6x-15

Why might you want to round to the nearest hundred rather than the nearest ten?
Eva8 [605]
Rounding to the nearest hundredth would equal a more accurate and precise answer since more decimals are present. Your answer would be even more accurate if you rounded to the nearest thousandth.
