What is the same about the electronic structures of lithium and sodium?

Biology

Answer:

Sodium and lithium are in the same group of the periodic table; this is because they both have the same number of electrons in their outer shell (1 as indicted by the group number). this commonality is the reason they have similar chemical properties. As we go down the group however, the electronic structure of atoms of an element changes as that there are a increasing numbers of ‘shells’.

Electron ‘shells’ are filled according to ruled of quantum mechanics however to simplify things in this case the first shell can fit 2 electron, the second 8, and the third shell 8. Lithium has 3 electrons, hence it the first shell is filled, and 1 electron occupies the second shell. Whilst Sodium has 11 electrons, hence its first two shells are filled and the third shell is occupied by one electron.

To expand on this question, the duet/octet rule is a rule in quantum mechanics that observes that main group elements tend to be stable with a full outer shell.

This explains why sodium and lithium is found in the form of Li+ and Na+ ions in nature.

What Phase is This Cell in?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

I believe it is Anaphase 1

Explanation:

Anaphase is the stage of meiotic or mitotic cell division in which the chromosomes move away from one another to opposite poles of the spindle. This is the process that separates the duplicates genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells.

DNA polymerase I, from E. coli, has three different catalytic sites. Which of the following is NOT one of them?
Leokris [45]

Answer:

RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.

Explanation:

DNA polymerase I is present in E.coli that are responsible for the prokaryotic DNA replication. The DNA polymerase I was discovered by Arthur Kornberg. This enzyme is coded by the gene polA.

DNA polymerase I has the activites of  DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, DNA-dependent DNA polymerase and RNA-dependent DNA polymerase. The  RNA-dependent RNA polymerase is generally present in the reverse transcriptase in case of viruses only. RNA-dependent RNA polymerase catalytic site is not present in DNA polymerase I.

Thus, the correct answer is option (1).
