Germany secured 29 medals

Step-by-step explanation:

In the 2006 Winter Olympics

  • Sweden won 3 medals more than China
  • Germany  secured one more than twice the number of medals bagged by Sweden
  • 54  medals were won in all

We need to find how many medals did Germany secure

Assume that x represents the number of medals that Sweden won

∵ Sweden won x medals

∵ Sweden won 3 medals more than China

- That means chine won 3 medals less than x

∴ China won = x - 3 medals

∵ Germany  secured one more than twice the number of

   medals bagged by Sweden

- That means multiply x by 2 and add 1

∴ Germany secured = 2x + 1 medals

∵ 54  medals were won in all

- That means add the number of medals of the 3 countries

  and equate the sum by 54

∵ x + (x - 3) + (2x + 1) = 54

- Add like terms in the left hand side

∴ (x + x + 2x) + (-3 + 1) = 54

∴ 4x - 2 = 54

- Add 2 to both sides

∴ 4x = 56

- Divide both sides by 4

∴ x = 14

∵ Germany secured 2x + 1

- Substitute the value of x by 14

∴ Germany secured ⇒ 2(14) + 1 = 28 + 1 = 29

Germany secured 29 medals

Lines a and b are parallel. What is the measure of angle s?
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

t = 158                         Corresponding angles

t + s = 180                   They are supplementary angles

158 + s = 180               Subtract 158 from both sides

s = 180 - 158

s = 22

As a note, all angles in this situation are either 158 or 22.

EASY MATH!!! GIVING BRAINLIEST!!
musickatia [10]

Answer:

55

Step-by-step explanation:

So lets take our 50 dollars.

Next, take your increase of 5%. Remember, 5% is 0.05, and it is a increase of 5%, so we are multipling 50 by 1.05.

Before we start multiplying, lets recall that this occurs twice(2 years), but this doesnt mean we multiply 50 by 1.10. No, we just mutiply 50 by 1.05 2 times:

50*1.05

=

52.5

52.5*1.05

=

55.25

So your answer is 55 dollars(rounding down).

Hope this helps!
