2x(3x - 1) + 1(3x - 1) = 0 ← factor out (3x - 1) from each term

Equate each factor to zero and solve for x

2x + 1 = 0 ⇒ 2x = - 1 ⇒ x = - \frac{1}{2}

3x - 1 = 0 ⇒ 3x = 1 ⇒ x = \frac{1}{3}
