<span>To find the length of the punt, we equate the expression to zero i.e. f(x) = 0 ,Given, f(x) is the height (in feet) and x is the horizontal distance (in feet) from the point at which the ball is punted. or (-16/1225)x^2 + (7/5)x + 2.5 = 0. On solving for x we get, x = 108 ft.</span>

Is anyone able to give a step by step process to this?

Answer:

The value of y is 3 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Perimeter of triangle = 29\ cm

Solution,

Lets redraw the triangle with nomenclature ABC, given in the attachment.

∴P(ΔABC) = 29 cm  (P stands for perimeter)

Length of AB = y+9

Length of BC = 2y

Length of CA = 4y-1

Now, we all know that the perimeter of a triangle is sum of all the three sides of triangle.

P(ΔABC) = Length of AB+Length of BC+Length of CA

On substituting the values, we get;

(y+9)+2y+(4y-1)=29\\y+2y+4y+9-1=29\\7y+8=29\\7y=29-8\\7y=21\\y=\frac{21}{7} =3\ cm

Length of AB =y+9=3+9=12\ cm

Length of BC =2y=2\times3=6\ cm

Length of CA =4y-1=4\times3-1=12-1=11\ cm

Hence the value of y is 3 cm.
