Ok so on day 0 we know the road was 44 miles, thats our intercept.
Now if only 1 mile is added per day, then we get
$l = d + 44$
Now lets plug in 35
$l = 35 + 44 \\ l = 79$
After 35 days the length of the road was 79 miles.
