In order to add the gene for human insulin to a bacterial plasmid, the DNA molecules have to be "cut" with enzymes called restri

ction endonucleases and then pasted back together with enzymes called DNA ligases. Imagine that during this process, the first five nucleotides of the human insulin gene were accidentally cut out before it was pasted into the bacterial plasmid. What is the most likely outcome if this plasmid was added to bacterial cells?

Answer:

Human insulin protein will not be produced

Explanation:

For production of human insulin protein in bacteria, first the insulin gene needs to be transcribed to corresponding mRNA. This mRNA will be then translated to produce insulin protein. The initial portion of any gene has a promoter sequence. During transcription RNA Polymerase recognizes this promoter sequence to initiate the process.

Here, the gene's first five nucleotides were accidentally cut out so now the promoter sequence has been altered. RNA Polymerase will not be able to recognise it so transcription will not occur. No mRNA will be formed and as a result translation will also not occur and there will be no production of insulin protein.

Explain the relationship between crossing over and genetic variation
Semmy [17]

A variation is a reference to the differences or deviations, such as the structure and form, as for crossing over is the exchange of genetic material between the non-sister chromatids of the homologous chromosomes during meiosis.

The apples at the local supermarket have been genetically engineered to resist warmer temperatures than they did before. What do
Lera25 [3.4K]
The answer is C - Recombinant DNA. Why?

A transgene is a gene or genetic material that has been transferred naturally, or by any of a number of genetic engineering techniques from one organism to another. The introduction of a transgene (called "transgenesis") has the potential to change the phenotype of an organism.

What is a positive and negative impact?

(Giving brainliest)
12345 [234]

Answer:

Positive affect" refers to one’s propensity to experience positive emotions and interact with others and with life’s challenges in a positive way. Conversely, "negative affect" involves experiencing the world in a more negative way, feeling negative emotions and more negativity in relationships and surroundings.

These two states are independent of one another, though related; someone can be high in positive and negative affect, high in just one, or low in both. Both states affect our lives in many ways, particularly when it comes to stress and how we handle it.
