Kit Carson was a renowned American frontier explorer and trapper who did work on behalf of John Fremont and others.

While Carson is not known for directly founding any Fort, he was honored during World War II when a camp in Colorado was named Camp Carson in his honor. Camp Carson, now Fort Carson, is located in Colorado.
