Since T_n is arithmetic, it's given recursively by

T_n=T_{n-1}+c

where c is a fixed number and T_1 is the starting term in the sequence. We have

T_n=T_{n-2}+2c

T_n=T_{n-3}+3c

and so on, so that

T_n=T_1+(n-1)c

We're told that T_4=16, so

16=T_3+c

and

T_5=16+c

so that

T_3-T_5=(16-c)-(16+c)=-2c=6\implies c=-3

Then the first term in the sequence is T_1:

T_4=T_1+3(-3)\implies T_1=25

and the sequence has general formula

T_n=25-3(n-1)\implies\boxed{T_n=28-3n}

The first negative term occurs for

28-3n

\implies n=10

The first negative term in the sequence is T_{10}=28-3\cdot10=\boxed{T_{10}=-2}.

How tall is a building that casts a 61-fit shadow when the angle of elevation of the sun is 60 degrees?
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

106 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming the shadow is measured along horizontal ground.

tanθ =opp/adj = building height/shadow length

building height = shadow length(tanθ)

h = 61tan60

h = 105.65509...

tresset_1 [31]
The formula for working out speed :

speed = distance ÷ time.

substitute the numbers : 100m ÷ 10.92s.

give your answer in meters per second ( m/s )

the answer I got while working this out was:
9.2 m/s.

Answer:

  • your graph is correct
  • y = 3x -5

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph shows you the line has a "rise" of 1-(-2) = 3 for a "run" of 2-1 = 1, so the slope is 3/1 = 3.

The y-intercept is seen to be -5, so the equation is ...

  y = mx +b . . . . . where m is the slope (3) and b is the y-intercept (-5)

  y = 3x -5

__

The points and line are plotted correctly, so you already have your graph.
