Solve the system with elimination

multiply the first equation by two to cancel

2(2x-y=5) new equation 4x-2y=10

now the -2y and 2y cancel each other out

now you have 4x=10 + 3x=4 = 7x=14

divide by 7 to get x=2 now we have to find y by plugging x into one of the equations(let's use the first one)

2(2)-y=5 --> 4-y=5 --> -y =1 --> y =-1
