Lyra and Donna are testing the two-way radios they built for their high school science project. Lyra goes to the top of a buildi

ng that is 22 meters high with one of the radios and stands directly above the building’s entrance. Donna walks out of the entrance, perpendicular to the building, with the other radio. If Donna is more than 50 meters from the entrance, the connection between the radios breaks. What is the range of communication for the two radios to the nearest meter?

Lyra is 22 meters above the entrance.
The radios work until Donna is 50 meters away from the entrance.
At that moment, Lyra, Donna, and the entrance form a right triangle.
The hypotenuse is the actual distance between Lyra and Donna.

           Distance  =  √ (22² + 50²)

                         =   √ (484 m² + 2,500 m²)

                         =    √ (2984 m²)

                         =        54.63 meters.

Rounded to the nearest meter, Distance = 55 meters.

THAT's the maximum point-to-point range of the radios.

If the angle is preserved, which describes the effect of moving the plane closer to the cone's vertex? Check all that apply.
Sholpan [36]

Let's go though the choices.

Major axis will get shorter. TRUE, CHECK ME

As the plane moves closer to the vertex the ellipse stays the same shape but shrinks.

Ellipse will become a circle. FALSE

As long as the plane is tilted, the ellipse can't be a circle.

Ellipse will degenerate to a point. TRUE, CHECK ME

Eventually the plane gets to the vertex, at which point (ha!) we have a single point.

Nappes? Is that a word? FALSE

The plane needs a steeper angle, steeper than the generators, before it can pass through both halves.

The generators are the lines through the vertex that form the cone. The plane isn't steep enough to hold any of them. FALSE

Frozen motts sticks cost $.022 each. If there are 6 sticks in on order, what is the portion cost for an order of motts sticks?
solong [7]

Answer:

$ 1.32

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

  • Cost of each Mott's Stick = $0.22 .

Now there are 6 sticks in an order . So the cost of six sticks will be ,

→ Cost = $ 0.22 × 6

→ Cost = $ 1.32

Hence the cost of an order of sticks is $ 1.32

What is the fifth term in the geometric sequence described by this explicit formula y=40×(-2)^(n-1)
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

The fifth term is 620

Step-by-step explanation:

y=40×(-2)^(n-1)

The 5th terms means n=5

y = 40 * (-2) ^ (5-1)

  = 40 * (-2) ^4

  = 40 * (16)

  = 640
