The roller coaster is below it's initial height.

Lets say that the initial height is 30 feet to start. Then it goes down 20 feet. That means that it is now at 10 feet. Finally, the roller coaster goes back up 15 feet, that means that it is now at 25 feet. 25 < 30. So the roller coaster is below it's initial height.

Scenario C:

The overall change in the company's size is zero employees.

Lets say that the company starts out with 400 employees. Then they lose 20 employees. Now they have 380 employees. However, they gained 20 new employees! They are back to 400 employees. 400=400. So the overall change in the company's size is zero employees.
