Our environment is very sensitive to the amount of ozone in the upper atmosphere. The level of ozone normally found is 7.5 parts

/million (ppm). A researcher believes that the current ozone level is not at a normal level. The mean of 16 samples is 7.8 ppm with a standard deviation of 0.8. Assume the population is normally distributed. A level of significance of 0.01 will be used. Make the decision to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Answer:

We accept  H₀   with the information we have, we can say level of ozone is under the major limit

Step-by-step explanation:

Normal Distribution

population mean  =   μ₀   =  7.5   ppm

Sample size     n   =  16      df  =  n  -  1  df  =  15

Sample mean      =    μ   =  7.8  ppm

Sample standard deviation   =  s  =  0.8

We want to find out if ozono level, is above normal level that is bigger than 7.5

1.- Hypothesis Test

null hypothesis                          H₀         μ₀   =  7.5

alternative hypothesis             Hₐ          μ₀  >  7.5

2.-Significance level    α  =  0.01   we will develop one tail-test (right)

then   for   df  =  15    and    α =  0,01   from t -student table we get

t(c)  = 2.624

3.-Compute  t(s)

t(s)  =  (  μ -  μ₀ ) / s /√n            ⇒   t(s)  = ( 7.8  -  7.5 )*4/0.8

t(s)  = 0.3*4/0.8

t(s)  = 1.5

4.-Compare   t(s)   and  t(c)

t(s)  <  t(c)       1.5  <  2.64

Then  t(s) is inside the acceptance region. We accept  H₀

Let f(x,y,z) = ztan-1(y2) i + z3ln(x2 + 1) j + z k. find the flux of f across the part of the paraboloid x2 + y2 + z = 3 that li
Sophie [7]
Consider the closed region V bounded simultaneously by the paraboloid and plane, jointly denoted S. By the divergence theorem,

\displaystyle\iint_S\mathbf f(x,y,z)\cdot\mathrm dS=\iiint_V\nabla\cdot\mathbf f(x,y,z)\,\mathrm dV

And since we have

\nabla\cdot\mathbf f(x,y,z)=1

the volume integral will be much easier to compute. Converting to cylindrical coordinates, we have

\displaystyle\iiint_V\nabla\cdot\mathbf f(x,y,z)\,\mathrm dV=\iiint_V\mathrm dV
=\displaystyle\int_{\theta=0}^{\theta=2\pi}\int_{r=0}^{r=1}\int_{z=2}^{z=3-r^2}r\,\mathrm dz\,\mathrm dr\,\mathrm d\theta
=\displaystyle2\pi\int_{r=0}^{r=1}r(3-r^2-2)\,\mathrm dr
=\dfrac\pi2

Then the integral over the paraboloid would be the difference of the integral over the total surface and the integral over the disk. Denoting the disk by D, we have

\displaystyle\iint_{S-D}\mathbf f\cdot\mathrm dS=\frac\pi2-\iint_D\mathbf f\cdot\mathrm dS

Parameterize D by

\mathbf s(u,v)=u\cos v\,\mathbf i+u\sin v\,\mathbf j+2\,\mathbf k
\implies\mathbf s_u\times\mathbf s_v=u\,\mathbf k

which would give a unit normal vector of \mathbf k. However, the divergence theorem requires that the closed surface S be oriented with outward-pointing normal vectors, which means we should instead use \mathbf s_v\times\mathbf s_u=-u\,\mathbf k.

Now,

\displaystyle\iint_D\mathbf f\cdot\mathrm dS=\int_{u=0}^{u=1}\int_{v=0}^{v=2\pi}\mathbf f(x(u,v),y(u,v),z(u,v))\cdot(-u\,\mathbf k)\,\mathrm dv\,\mathrm du
=\displaystyle-4\pi\int_{u=0}^{u=1}u\,\mathrm du
=-2\pi

So, the flux over the paraboloid alone is

\displaystyle\iint_{S-D}\mathbf f\cdot\mathrm dS=\frac\pi2-(-2\pi)=\dfrac{5\pi}2

Identify the percent of change as an increase or decrease. Then find the percent of change, rounding to the nearest tenth of a p
kap26 [50]

Answer:

-60% decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

60 is the old value and 24 is the new value.

percent change = \frac{new - old}{|old|} x 100%

so for this problem, you can substitute the values given in the formula:

percent change = \frac{60-24}{|60|} x 100% = \frac{-36}{60} x 100% =

-60% (decrease)

andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

-42

Step-by-step explanation:

f(8)=6(1-8)

because of that 1-8 is -7 so you times by 6 and get -42
