Lincoln had prepared this speech carefully. Though he began on a joyful note—“We meet this evening, not in sorrow, but in gladness of heart. The evacuation of Petersburg and Richmond and the surrender of the principal insurgent army, give hope of a righteous and speedy peace”—and promised a day of “national thanksgiving” he proceeded directly to a reminder that the nation now faced a task “fraught with great difficulty,” that of “re-inauguration of the national authority—reconstruction.”

Because Kennedy was elected by a slim margin, he lacked a popular mandate true or false
Vanyuwa [196]

That statement is true

When presidents are elected with popular mandate, it is very easy for the presidents to pass any laws that he/she wants because their sheer popularity would give overwhelming public support that put pressure for the opposition to conform.

Since Kennedy was elected by a slim margin, a large portion of public still oppose his policies during earlier years of his presidency. This make it easy for his opposition to limit his movement so he can't pass the policy that he wants.

The spanish and portuguese focused colonization in north america. true or false
Shkiper50 [21]
FALSE.

Portugal only had one major colony in the New World, and that was Brazil in South America.

Spain had colonies in North America, but they focused more on the rest of South America excluding Brazil more. The colonies they had in North America were quickly lost to Mexico and America.
