√m/3=4 My teacher didn't explain how to solve these to well can someone explain?

Mathematics

√m/3 = 4

To remove the radical sign, square both sides.

(√m/3)² = 4²
m/3 = 16

To remove the denominator of 3, multiply both sides by 3.
3 (m/3) = 3(16)
m = 48

To check: Substitute m by its value.
√m/3 = 4
√48/3 = 4
√16 = 4
4 = 4

Find the x-intercept and
svetlana [45]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  x-intercept: (16, 0)

  y-intercept: (0, 8)

Step-by-step explanation:

Each intercept is found by setting the other variable to zero and solving for the variable of interest.

I like to find the intercepts from this form because it basically involves dividing the constant by the variable coefficient.

<u>x-intercept</u>

  y = 0, so we have 4x = 64   ⇒   x = 64/4 = 16

  x-intercept is (16, 0)

<u>y-intercept</u>

  x = 0, so we have 8y = 64   ⇒   y = 64/8 = 8

  y-intercept is (0, 8)

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

There is a form of the linear equation called the "intercept form" that looks like this:

  x/a +y/b = 1

where 'a' is the x-intercept and 'b' is the y-intercept.

You can get this form by dividing the standard form equation by the constant. Here, that gives ...

  4x/64 +8y/64 = 1

  x/16 +y/8 = 1

This is nice because it gives both intercepts with one operation (divide by the constant). It's easy enough to do, but not always easy to explain. This form of the equation of a line is rarely seen.

Answer:

Total distance Alicia run in kilometer = 8 Kilometer

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total distance Alicia run = 5 miles

1 mile ≈ 1.6 kilometer

Find:

Total distance Alicia run in kilometer

Computation:

Total distance Alicia run in kilometer = 1.6 × 5

Total distance Alicia run in kilometer = 8 Kilometer

The mean annual tuition and fees for a sample of 12 private colleges was 36,800 with a standard deviation of 5,000 . A dotplot s
Ilya [14]

Answer:

The value of the test statistic and degrees of freedom is 2.148 and 11 respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

The mean annual tuition and fees for a sample of 12 private colleges was 36,800 with a standard deviation of 5,000 .

Thus, n = 12, \bar x=36800 σ = 5000

degrees of freedom = n-1 = 12-1 = 11

H_0: \mu = 33700\ and\ H_a: \mu \neq 33700

Formula to find the value of z is: z=\frac{\bar x-\mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}}

Where \bar x is mean of sample, μ is the mean of population, σ is the standard deviation of population and n is number of observations.

z=\frac{36800-33700}{\frac{5000}{\sqrt{12}}}

z=2.148

Hence, the value of the test statistic and degrees of freedom is 2.148 and 11 respectively.
