Turkey went from controlling a powerful empire to forming an independent republic as a result of World War I.

Turkey is a Muslim religion dominated state which was ruled by Ottoman Empire from 1299-1923. The Ottoman Empire was established from centre of Turkey and extended up to South Eastern Europe. They have made the capital has Constantinople and now it is known as Istanbul.

The empire was expanded slowly throughout the 18th century but it started losing its control and power in the 19th and 20th century. Finally the empire vanished by involving themselves in the First World War begin at Battle of Odessa in 1914. The Infighting between Turkish government and Ottoman Arabs made things worse and finally lost everything.
