The answer may be no, because half of 500 is 250, and half of 3 is 1.5. If this is true, than the skydiver should fall 250 ft in 1.5 seconds.

Notice that we can model this situation using a line.

Let the x-axis represent the time (seconds) and the y-axis the distance the skydiver has fallen (feet).

So, we have the points P1(0.8, 100) and P2(3.1, 500)

We can have the slope of our line using those tow points and the slope formula.

Slope formula: m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

where

m is the slope of the line

(x_{1},y_{1}) are the coordinates of the first point

(x_{2},y_{2}) are the coordinates of the second point

We know form our points that x_{1}=0.8, y_{1}=100, x_{2}=3.1, and y_{2}=500, so let's replace those values in our slope formula to find m:

m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

m=\frac{500-100}{3.1-0.8}

m=\frac{400}{2.3}

m=173.9

Now, to find the equation of our line, we are going to use the point-slope formula: y=m(x-x_{1})+y_{1}

where

m is the slope of the line

(x_{1},y_{1}) are the coordinates of the first point

Since we already have the values, let's replace them in our point-slope formula:

y=m(x-x_{1})+y_{1}

y=173.9(x-0.8)+100

y=173.9x-139.12+100

y=173.9x-39.12

Now let's check if Emtiaz's answer is reasonable

Emtiaz says that the skydiver should fall about 187.5 feet and 1.5 seconds. Since x represents the seconds in the equation of our line, we just need to replace x with 1.5 to find how valid his answer is:

y=173.9x-39.12

y=173.9(1.5)-39.12

y=260.85-39.12

y=221.7 feet

After 1.5 second, the skydiver has fallen 221.7 feet and not 187.5 feet as Emtiaz said. We can conclude that Emtiaz's answer is not reasonable.

garik1379 [7]

Answer:

segment AC is equal to A''B'' over 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Scale factor = 2

The coordinates of A is (-3,3)

The coordinates of B is (1,-3)

The coordinates of C is (-3,3)

We know that, the ratio of length of new segment to the length of segment of original figure is called scale factor.

So.

\dfrac{A''B''}{AC}=2\\\\\text{On cross multiplying,}\\\\AC=\dfrac{A''B''}{2}

It means, segment AC is equal to A''B'' over 2 is the correct answer.

Ashley has 6 books and 9 pencils. James has 12 pencils but is not able to determine the amount of books he has. The amount of bo
dsp73

Answer:

8 books

Step-by-step explanation:

First you need to find the ratio between 6 and 9

6/9 = 2/3

The ratio is 2/3

Now for James's case his denominator would be 12

x/12

To find the numerator you need to multiply the denominator by 2/3

12 * 2/3 = 8

There you go, the numerator is your answer

8 books and 12 pencils

Hope this helps :)

The graph shows point F located at (0, 6) and line d given by the equation y = 0.
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

equidistant from point F and line d: (0, 3); (6, 6) and (-6, 6)

not equidistant from point F and line d: (3, 0); (3, 5) and (-2, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Point (0, 3)

Distance from point (0, 6) = 3

Distance from line d = 3

Point (6, 6)

Distance from point (0, 6) = 6

Distance from line d = 6

Point (3, 0)

Distance from point (0, 6) = √[(3 - 0)² + (0 - 6)²] = √45

Distance from line d = 0

Point (3, 5)

Distance from point (0, 6) = √[(3 - 0)² + (5 - 6)²] = √10

Distance from line d = 5

Point (-2, 2)

Distance from point (0, 6) = √[(-2 - 0)² + (2 - 6)²] = √20

Distance from line d = 2

Point (-6, 6)

Distance from point (0, 6) = 6

Distance from line d = 6
