Question 7: How rates and ratios related? - we don’t do number 6. In my class we’re learning how to write rates as unit rates. I need to know how rates and ratios are related. Please help??

Rate: The rate is the ratio of two measurements that have different units.

Example: Miles per hour, working hours (40 hours per week)

Note: Rate is a special ratio.

Example

Sarah covered the distance of 60 miles in 3 hours. What is the rate per hour?

Rate = 60/3 = 20 miles per hour.
