These points were later taken as the basis for peace negotiations at the end of the war. In this January 8, 1918, speech on War Aims and Peace Terms, President Wilson set down 14 points as a blueprint for world peace that was to be used for peace negotiations after World War I.

  1. Canada held a very low position in society but because of their efforts of the war, they received a greater recognition in society.
  2. Canada established itself as a middle power, therefore taking a more active global role.
  3. Canada supplied many resources and raw materials to the war and thus their economy boomed, despite their debt of over $10 million dollars. The supplies Canada gave to the war had to be made in large supplies fast, resulting in many factories across Canada.
