Identify the roots of -3x^3-21x^2+72x+540=0State the multiplicity of each root.
Kryger [21]
It took me awhile, but using the Rational Root Theorem and then synthetic division I got the first root.  If you don't know the RRT you'll be in heaps of trouble doing this type of problem.  I found the first root to be (x+6), then I did it again and got another root of (x+6) and the third one was (x-5).  So the roots of this polynomial (and there are 3 because this is a 3rd degree polynomial) are (x+6) with a multiplicity of 2, and (x-5).

Soro bought a $50.00 bus card at the beginning of the week. Each bus ride costs $2.50. He needs to have at least $20.00 on his c
Hunter-Best [27]

If Soro wants $20.00 on his card at the end of his month, you should subtract $20 from the $50 right away. This would give you $30. Each bus ride costs $2.50. So what you want to do is divide 2.50 by 30. Your answer should then be 12 rides.

A personal computer manufacturer buys 36% of its chips from Japan and the rest from the United States. Of the Japanese chips, 1.
Tanya [424]

Answer: 0.0061

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability that a chip is defective and made in Japan can be calculated by multiplying the probability of the manufacturer buying from Japan and the probability of Japanese chips being defective:

Probability of buying from Japan : 36%

Probability of Japanese chips being defective : 1.7%

Probability of chip is defective and made in Japan = 36% * 1.7%

= 0.0061
