Answer:

surrounded by two membranes

Explanation:

The nucleus is surrounded by two unit membranes. Together, the two membranes of the nucleus make the nuclear envelope. Therefore, the nucleus is said to be a double membrane-bound organelle. Likewise, chloroplast and mitochondria are also surrounded by two unit membranes and both are the double membrane-bound organelles. Like the nucleus, both chloroplast and mitochondria have their own DNA.

The pictures below show two processes. (4 points)
Evgen [1.6K]

Answer:

  • Both processes form minerals.
  • Volcanic eruptions form precipitates and shifting of tectonic plates form minerals.

Explanation:

Both volcanic eruptions and the shifting of tectonic plates form minerals. Volcanoes and their eruptions can directly or indirectly lead to the formation and/or deposit of minerals such as diamonds and zinc. Shifting also forms minerals due to the forces of compression the plates apply on each other as they move past.

Volcanoes are known the cause precipitates because when the erupt, the ash that is released mixes with water vapor which then becomes rain eventually.

What differs among DNA structures of different species?
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

D) the arrangement of the nucleotides within genes

Explanation:

De-oxy ribo nucleic acid that is basically a polymer of nucleotides. Nucleotides are composed of three basic units: a de-oxyribose sugar unit, a phosphate group and nitrogenous bases that can be Adenine, Gunanine, Thymine and Cytosine.Adenine always pairs with Thymine and Guanine always pairs with Cytosine.

This is a universal composition of DNA in each and every living organism. The genes are a segment of DNA that contain specific sequence of nucleotides and encode for a specific trait of organism such as height, weight, eye color etc. The sequence of nucleotides expresses the trait in the form of protein product during the process of Translation. The products of translation are amino acids and every amino acids encode for a specific protein  in almost  all living organisms.

So, what differs in the specie is the sequence of nucleotides in genes. Infact this is the nucleotide sequence which brings evolution in organism and organisms evolve to form new specie with the passage of time. One major cause of change in nucleotide sequence is mutations due to which the organisms change with time.

Suppose the sequence of nucleotide of specific gene in organism A is

AAGGGGAAATTT

However in other specie organism B of same specie is:

TAGGGGAAATTT

This means only mutation of one base changed the gene in organism B and also its product called protein.

Hope it help!

An isotope has an atomic number of 8 and an atomic mass number of 18. How many neutrons does it have?
Paul [167]
The atomic number of an isotope is the number of protons it contains, whereas the mass number is the total mass of the nucleus, which is the combined number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. To find the number of neutrons, you must therefore subtract the atomic number of the isotope from the mass number of the isotope.
<span>In the above example, the atomic number is 8 and the mass number is 18. This isotope is known as O18. The number of neutrons in the isotope is: Mass number - Atomic number = Number of neutrons

Explain the difference between bactericidal and bacteriostatic antibiotics.
vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

Explanation:

The bacteriostatic antibiotics can be defined as those antibiotics, which prevents the growth of bacteria. These keeps the growth of bacteria in the stationary phase so that bacteria cannot cause harm to the host.

The bactericidal antibiotics can be defined as those antibiotics, which kills the bacteria.

The example of bacteriostatic antibiotic is Tetracycline  that it inhibit the bacteria ribosome production of proteins. This way bacterial growth and reproduction will get restricted.

The example of bacteriocidal antibiotic is polymyxin B. It causes injuries to the plasma membrane of the bacteria which can be lethal for bacteria.
