<em><u>Explanation</u></em>:

On the left hand side of the place value chart, 20 hundreds is equal to 2 thousands because thousands is larger than hundreds. 2 thousands is 2(1000)=2000. 20 hundreds is 20(100)=2000. They are the same number.

However, on the right hand side of the place value chart, hundredths is larger than thousandths. To say that 20 hundredths is the same as 2 thousandths is incorrect, because you're saying more of a larger quantity is the same as less of a smaller quantity.

Hundredths are two places after the decimal, and have a value of 0.01. 20 hundredths is 20(0.01) = 0.2.

Thousandths are three places after the decimal and have a value of 0.001. 2 thousandths is 2(0.001) = 0.002.

We can write 0.2 as 0.200; this way we can see that 0.200 is larger than 0.002. They are not equal.

The error in Janice statement is that 20 hundredths in equivalent to 2 thousandths.

Further explanation:

Given that Janice thinks that 20 hundredths is equal to 2 thousandths because he thinks that 20 hundreds is equal to 2 thousands.

Explanation:

From the place value chart we can observe that 10 hundreds is equal to 1 thousands.

Then 20 hundreds will be equal to 2 thousands, since two thousand can be written as,

2\left({1000}\right)=2000

Ten hundreds can be written as,

20\left({100}\right)=2000

From place value chart it is also observed that hundredths is greater than thousandths.

Hundredths are two places after decimal and the thousandths are 3 places after the decimal.

Twenty hundredths can be written as,

\dfrac{{20}}{{100}}=0.2

Two thousandths can be written in the form of decimals as follows:

\dfrac{2}{{1000}}=0.002

It is observed from two thousandths and twenty hundredths that both are not same.

It is also observed from two thousandths and twenty hundredths that twenty hundredths is greater than two thousandths.

Twenty hundredths can also be written as follows:

0.2=0.200

Therefore, from place value chart it is seen that 20 hundredths in not equivalent to 2 thousandths but 20 hundreds is equal to 2 thousands.

Thus, the error in Janice statement is that 20 hundredths in equivalent to 2 thousandths.

The other form of circle equation is (x-a)2 + (y-b)2 = r2. a and b is the coordinate of the center and r is radius. So the equation is x2+(y-4)2=9. Change it to the general form is x2+y2-8y+7=0. So A=1, B=1, C=0, D=-8 and E=7.

Simplify (1-√3)(⅓+√3) leaving your answer in the form p+q√3
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

\frac{-8 +2\sqrt{3} }{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

When working with surds we need to take note of the roots present there.

To expand this equation we can do it the following way noting that √3 X √3 = 3

<em></em>

<em>Expanding (1-√3)(⅓+√3)</em>

1 X 1/3 = 1/3

1 X √3 = √3

-√3 X 1/3 =-√3/3

√3 X √3 = 3

hence, expanding the equation, we have

1/3 + √3 -√3/3 + 3

We can simply group the like terms and add them up.

[1/3 +3] +[√3-√3/3]

10/3 + \frac{2\sqrt{3} }{3}

= \frac{-8 +2\sqrt{3} }{3}
