3.1 As the passage above explains, subduction is process that occurs along convergent boundaries where one plate is pushed under

neath (subducted) the other converging plate. Subduction generally can be expected to occur when an oceanic plate and a continental plate converge. According to this passage, why can we expect oceanic plates to subduct underneath continental plates?

Answer:

Because the rock that make up the oceanic tectonic plate is denser than the rock make up the continental tectonic plate.

Explanation:

Subduction is the process when to tectonic plates were together, crashing one with the other. Normally is one oceanic tectonic plate with a continental tectonic plate. The reason of this, is that the first one has a lithosphere part that is denser than the second one That means that is harder, and is easier to go attract to the nucleus of magma of our planet.

When this process happens, since the harder rock goes to the mantle, gives a result that a the magma that is in this area, rises and erupts as in a volcano in the continental tectonic plate.

The earth is round first discovered by
valina [46]
It isn't exactly known who discovered it first, but the earliest claim of earth being round rather than flat was posed by Pythagoras sometime around 500 B.C. He argued that if the moon was round the Earth should be as well.

After that, his claim was proven true by a man named Anaxagoras at around 500-430 B.C when he brought up solar and lunar eclipses. The shape of Earth's shadow on the moon was also used as evidence that the Earth was round.

And finally, in 350 B.C the great Aristotle declared that the Earth was a sphere based on constellations you can see if you travel farther from the equator. Over the next hundred or so years, Aristarchus and Eratosthenes actually measured the size of the earth.

1. The minimum speed required to launch an object so that it remains the same distance above the ground and just falls around th
Agata [3.3K]

Answer: a. perigee speed

Explanation:

Firstly, we must define what is Perigee and Apogee:

The apogee is the point in an elliptical orbit around the Earth where a body is furthest from the center of it and according to Kepler's 2nd law the speed of a satellite at this point is the lowest.

On the other hand, the perigee is the opposite orbital point. It is where a satellite is closest to Earth and its orbital speed is maximum.

Therefore, if we want to throw an object in such a way that it is orbiting the Earth at the same distance respect to the ground, the minimum speed must be that which is in the perigee.
