Jane and Ken share some money in the ration 5:3 Ken's share is $16 less than Jane's share. FInd each person's share.
The money is shared in the ratio 5:3
That means that Jane gets 5 parts of the total money and Ken gets three parts.
So then there are 8 parts of the money (5 + 3 = 8)
Jane has 2 parts more than Ken (5 - 3 = 2)
And those 2 parts are equal to $16 (the question says so)
So one part is equal to $8
Each person's share then is: Jane has 5 parts = $40, Ken has 3 parts = $24

Let Jane's share = x

Equation

5:3 :: x:(x - 16)

5/3 = x / (x - 16)

Solve

Cross multiply

5*(x - 16) = 3*x

5x - 80 = 3x      Add 80 to both sides.

5x = 3x + 80      Subtract 3x from both sides.

5x - 3x = 80

2x = 80             Divide by 2

x = 80/2

x = 40

So Jane's share is 40 dollars and Ken's is 40 - 16 = 24 dollars<<< Answer

Find the balance after 8 years
AfilCa [17]
Here’s the equation: 3000+0.03(3000)
But because it is 8 years:
3000+0.24(3000)
We can make it simpler:
1.24(3000)
3720
Your balance will be $3720

Kyle's height increased 17 % last year and 12% this year. What is the total percent increase ?
Advocard [28]

Answer:

31.04%

Step-by-step explanation:

So he increased 17%, then increased 12%.

When he increased by 17%, his height was 117%, relative to his former height.  12% of 117% is 14.04%

So he increase 17%, then increased 14.04% ( of his original height) so his total growth was 31.04%

Really need help! Brainliest to correct!
zlopas [31]

Answer:

<u>Given</u>:

  • R(x) = 59x - 0.3x²
  • C(x) = 3x + 14

<u>Find the following</u>:

  • P(x) = R(x) - C(x) = 59x - 0.3x² - 3x - 14 = -0.3x² + 56x - 14
  • R(80) = 59(80) - 0.3(80²) = 2800
  • C(80) = 3(80) + 14 = 254
  • P(80) = 2800 - 254 = 2546

Which calculation should be used to calculate s9 for the arithmetic sequence an=3n-1
Ganezh [65]

Answer: Choice A

S9 = (9/2)*(2+26)

===============================================

The formula is

Sn = (n/2)*(a1+an)

where

Sn = sum of the first n terms (nth partial sum)

n = number of terms

a1 = first term

an = nth term

In this case,

n = 9

a1 = 2 (plug in n = 1 into the formula an = 3n-1 and simplify)

an = a9 = 26 (plug n = 9 into the formula an = 3n-1 and simplify)

So,

Sn = (n/2)*(a1+an)

S9 = (9/2)*(2+26)

will help us find the sum of the first 9 terms of this arithmetic sequence
